I bought this product around midnight the night before my brother-in-law's wedding hoping and praying that I would be able to charge on of my video camera batteries so that we could capture the ceremony. I have a Hi-8 Sony Handycam and a DVD-RW Handycam; one has a lost charger/cable and the other has a broken one. The batteries have been dead for well over a year and I wasn't sure that this would work for either of them. Not only did it work, but it charged the batteries in around an hour and it was so easy to figure out. The versatility is amazing! The two batteries are completely different, but with a quick slide of the terminals on the charger they were both fully charged... and it does AA/AAAs?! This product is well worth it!

12 volt or AC is great.

My primary need was for AA/AAA battery charging. This gives me 12V or AC power source options. Both methods tested well. It charges 2 batteries at a time. I like the indicator so you know when it is done. The instructions indicate the USB charger port will not work with batteries in the charge tray. I had to see if this was true. I was able to charge my iPhone and AA/AAA batteries at the same time. I did not test with a Lithium-Ion battery. It fits my need.

  3. There is an inaccuracy in this article: TC-U400 is NOT compatible with AA or AAA rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, only NiCd/NiMH. From the manual: "The charger only applies for AAA/AA NI-MH/NI-CD rechargeable batteries,
single 3.7V or double 7.4V rechargeable lithium batteries, USB devices". One could charge AA/AAA-sized 3.7V Li-Ion cells using some fixture for connecting them to the Li-Ion charging prongs, but not in AA/AAA slots, and it will not be an intended application.
Also, charging cycle won't start for a very discharged battery; it needs to have at least about 1V of residual charge left for the charger to pick up
